CAUTION:
IF FILTERS ARE NOT SET UP CORRECTLY, EMAIL THAT YOU WANT TO RECEIVE MAY BE
BLOCKED.
If after setting up filters emails that you
want to receive are being blocked do the following:
1. Check ALL the filters for syntax.
2. If after updating the filters you still don't get the emails you want to
receive remove ALL the filters
CPanel lets you manage filters for each email
account in your domain. This can
be useful for discarding spam, redirecting mail, or piping messages to a
program.
After doing the first filter it takes about one minute to create a filter.
Suggestion: Create a filter for your top ten
most received spam which should reduce
the spam significantly.
Log on to Cpanel Mail/User Level filtering (alternatively you can go on Account Level
Filtering and create filters for all email accounts)
The next menu will display. Click on Manage Filters for the account you wish
to add filters
A new menu will display. Click on Create a New Filter
Create a name for the filter (in this example :
mortgage) Select the rules you want
applied and the text you want filtered. (In this example it is "Body" and
"Contains"
which means any email with mortgage in the body will be discarded. Rules can
also
be applied to Header, Subject line etc. Click on Create to save the new filter.
Repeat the process for each spam you want to block.
